However, against the backdrop of COVID-19, the demand for bags shrank sharply in 2020 as travels cut back. In 2020, the market turnover of bag is 24 billion RMB, declined by 66% year on year. There are 10,081 markets in China in 2020, declined by 11.2% than last year.

According to China's customs data, in 2021 the import value of suitcases and bags in China was 6.36 billion dollars, and the export value was 27.86 billion dollars, with a trade surplus of 21.5 billion dollars, with an increase in import and export value compared with 2020.

According to the Database of Chinese Commerce Industry Research Institute, China exported 430,000 tons of bags in January to February in 2022, increased by 26% year-on-year. The export volume of bags and similar containers in January was 280,000 tons, increased by 38.1% year on year, and the export volume of cases and similar containers in February was 160,000 tons, increased by 9% year on year. In terms of value, the export value of Chinese cases and similar containers from January to February in 2022 was 4811.3 million dollars, with a year-on-year growth of 24.3%. The export value of bags and similar containers in January was $3054.3 million, increased by 34.8% year on year, and the export value of bags in February was $1756.9 million, increased by 9.6% year on year.

In 2021, China's main luggage export destinations are United States, Japan, South Korea, Britain, Germany and other developed countries and regions. Main export provinces and cities of bags are Guangdong, Zhejiang, Shandong, Fujian, Hunan, Jiangsu, etc. In 2021, the value of imported bags in Shanghai exceeded 5 billion US dollars, accounting for more than 78% of the total value of imported bags in China. China's exports to the United States in 2021 amounted to $5.475 billion; Exports to Japan amounted to us $2.251 billion; Exports to Korea amounted to $1.241 billion.

After entering 2018, the price of suitcases and bags in China has increased with obvious fluctuation. In 2021, the price fluctuation of suitcases and bags in China will remain at a normal level.
